Sally’s Fund, a nonprofit that provides transportation services to Laguna’s older adults and people with disabilities, now accepts vehicle donations as a new funding source.

CarDana, a Laguna Beach-based charitable car donation organization, will pick up donated vehicles, no matter the condition, and take care of the sale. After a small handling fee, the proceeds go directly to Sally’s Fund.

Anthony Glenn, the founder and CEO of CarDana, said donors typically want to understand the impact of their donations.

“Donors know there are costs associated with doing business, but they also want assurance that the charity they are supporting is the primary beneficiary, not some middleman,” Glenn said. “We offer vehicle owners a transparent donation experience. Once the vehicle is sold at auction, the owner receives an itemized breakdown of the handling costs, the amount it sold for, and the exact amount of the check that Sally’s Fund received, all tax-deductible.”

Glenn explained that a “dana” (pronounced donna) is a positive or kind action in Buddhist practice. Glenn started CarDana after spending decades in the car donation business and seeing opportunities for improvement and bigger benefits to recipient nonprofits.

“I’m excited to partner with Anthony and CarDana because of their sterling reputation for emphasizing smooth, fair, easily understood donation experiences,” Sally’s Fund Executive Director Rachael Berger said. “Many people have vehicles they no longer need or use. Rather than hassle with trying to sell it themselves, they can choose to donate it to us by filling out a form on our website. CarDana takes it from there.”
